Point of my ponder...

There are times in life when we walk a path that brings challenge, growth and peace to us. Although we may only recognize a certain part of the process, we have a sense that we are on purpose, being fulfilled or having a level of success and this allows us to take another step. However, at times, we need to fully disengage to gain the objectivity that is necessary to realign ourselves with our greater purpose. This can be extremely difficult to do in a such a hectic society where our world never stops moving.

As a father of four children, I want nothing more than to teach my kids the essential life skills that will allow them to find their purpose, follow their dreams and achieve success as they define it. My life is not their to live, it is my own and can be used as an invaluable series of lessons for them as they grow and take control of their own lives. I see in my kids the rawness of youth...the imagination that has not been burdened by negativity, judgement or trauma. I could take this as my opportunity to make them what I want them to be, to saddle them with expectation, judgment and help "motivate" them...but I will not. Rather, I will step back and allow them to speak their peace, offer guidance and simply love them.

I am a teacher of martial arts...I still do not know how I came to be this, but decades ago, watching an old Japanese man throw people around captivated me and still to this day keeps my attention. I come full circle with my understanding and have enjoyed the past couple of years. During this time, I have recharged, healed and realigned with my purpose.

It is now the simple time...get back to work with an open heart and no fear! Osu!
